When People Ask Why Do You Hate Bush
By Mike Hersh, Jan 23, 2005

It's so easy for the media to say - and for some people to think - there's Bush and people who "hate" (or rather oppose) Bush and both sides must be equally right and equally wrong. Just split the difference, people say, and you'll get the truth. That's usually true about politics, but not now. Not under the current situation.

Today, one side is getting people killed and lying about it, scaring people for political purposes, looting the public treasury and planning to go after Social Security to make themselves and their friends rich. The pro-Bush side. Remember when Cheney said if we didn't vote for him and Bush terrorists would attack us, maybe even with nuclear weapons? That was an outrageous lie. Telling you about that isn't hating. It's about the truth.

Republicans are screwing with you when they threaten and scare you and when they accuse us of being unAmerican, not supporting the troops, not wanting to keep us safe. They're the ones who let us get attacked by ignoring warnings. This isn't about any wacky conspiracy theory or wild speculation. On 9/11, the Bush people failed to keep American safe worse than anyone ever has in our history. They can argue all about that, but the facts remain:

Cheney refused to meet with the Anti-Terror task force. Too busy meeting with Enron. Rice claimed it wasn't her job to worry about terrorists inside the US. Rumsfeld opposed Congress' plans to move money from :Star Wars: to anti-terrorism. Bush ignored a memo entitled "bin Laden Determined to Attack inside the US." He saw in August - in time to prevent the 9/11/01 attacks - but went jogging and played golf instead of calling an all-out effort to catch the al Qaeda terrorists.

Note: I'm not saying Bush planned 9/11, just that he was too foolish, lazy or worse to do anything to prevent it. He should have done something. He did nothing. Then he attacked the wrong people afterward. Bush side attacked Iraq, a country that did nothing to us - and he and nearly his entire administration lied to us before and afterward. They're still lying about it.

Our side, with nothing to gain expect protecting our troops and our country from harm, told you the truth. Even as Bush was preparing to attack Iraq and lying by claiming he wanted to use diplomacy, we told you there was no real threat from Iraq, no proof they had any weapons that could hurt us. On every single point, we were correct.

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice and Powell were wrong. Either they were outright lying or else they should have known better than to tell you wrong information. Our side told you the truth about that and other things, and we admit when the other side is right (which isn't often). So why not trust us rather than the Bush side which lied to you over and over? For example, we admit Saddam Hussein sucks and didn't deserve to rule over anyone, so Bush and his supporters are correct about that.

Thing is, Rumsfeld and Bush's father helped Saddam get weapons during the 80s. Cheney was doing business with Saddam as recently as 1999! Who was wrong then? The Republicans. Who's wrong now? Still them. Keep this in mind. When Republicans tell you something and someone else disagrees, the Republicans are almost always wrong. They're usually up to something crooked, stupid or both. Republicans often lie, cannot keep us safe, and can't run the economy. With a record like that, they can't afford to tell the truth.

Bush was wrong on Iraq because he didn't have to get 1000s of Americans and 10,000s of Iraqis hurt and killed to get rid of Saddam. There were inspections in Iraq when Bush started the war. Bush did that because Bush sucks.

It also applies to many other issues. On Social Security, Bush's plan will cost us $trillions (that's millions of millions!) and make things worse, not better. On Medicare, Bush's plan gave our money to HMOs and drug companies, and hasn't given even one person one penny of drug coverage. His lawsuit "reform" will make it easy for companies to sue you, but much harder for you to sue a company or someone who hurts you. It goes on and on.

Please keep in mind that Bush and people who support Bush have to lie to us because we wouldn't support their plans if they didn't. It's true a lot of people who argue against Bush can't explain themselves very well and some (even me) get all hyped and say things that make you want to roll your eyes.

It's hard to believe some of the things we tell you about are true. But it is true Republicans worked to prevent women, minorities, and poor people from voting in Democratic areas and the guy who runs Diebold - the voting machine company - promised Bush would win Ohio no matter what.

We the people who tell you the about all this have one motivation: we want a better USA. Why would we lie to you? Just because we don't like Bush? Give us a little credit. Many of us could make a lot of cash if we lied for Bush rather than tell the truth against him.

We know why Bush, Cheney and their supporters lie. They're making $millions off war, "reforms" that make things worse, tax loopholes only they get and more. Did you know the Republican Congress just gave special tax loopholes to imported goods and that is killing American jobs?

Bush is the most powerful person in the history of the world, and he uses that power to hurt, kill, waste and destroy. That sounds hateful, but the facts show it's exactly what Bush is doing.  So it's not about hate. It's about truth, justice, the American way and how Bush is against all of that. So we have to be against Bush. There just isn't any other choice.
