Not In Our Names Will The Bush Agenda Go Forward
By Marilyn Dinger, Oct 31, 2002
We need to vote November 5th in honor of our fallen Senator, Paul Wellstone. He was not just Senator for the state of Minnesota, but for all of the good common people of our nation.
We desperately need a Democratic majority in both the House and the Senate of the United States Congress this time around! We also need at least a majority of gubernatorial victories in the Democratic Party for the state houses of that nation.
A Democratic gubernatorial victory in California, Florida, Massachusetts, and Maryland is crucial, but we need Democratic victories in at least the majority of state houses. We don't need it just for Americans. However things will be very grave and bleak for those of us here at home if it doesn't happen. It is also crucial for the entire global community that the election in November 2002 goes Democratic this time.
The whole world's future depends on it! There never before was a time when such an outcome was needed more.
There is simply no excuse for Democrats to stay home from the polls or else to vote Republican or for another party candidate because we believe we have a legitimate gripe with someone in office who is a Democrat or because we cannot stand their personality or because we are disappointed in a Democratic incumbent's performance. We do so at our own peril and at the peril of at least millions of our fellow human beings at home and abroad!
Vote Democrat NOW and then once Bush is out of office take it out on those who have disappointed you then. It will be just too costly to do otherwise this election and not only that -- it will be downright dangerous and you could be next!
Although I am proud to be a Democrat now, I have not always been. As a rebellious college student who once thought that my parents were less than people, I once was a Republican or so I thought! I have since changed my way of thinking. But the outcome of this election goes way beyond partisan politics. This time it's a matter of life and death, literally!
It will be on that premise that I cast my vote this time around. I will also NOT vote on popularity, but I will vote on principle. How I vote could decide in a very real way peace or war, life or death, and not just generally, either. My own life, the lives of my family and friends, and the lives of good and innocent people everywhere hang in the balance.
As a citizen journalist and as an informed opinion writer for a progressive news web site, I feel it is my duty to warn the world and nation of what is ahead if Republicans win in any or all of the races this year. A Republican win will mean a Bush win and that could be deadly in the worst sense of the word, but in any sense it will pose an unnecessary cost in human lives, human suffering, and misery.
If there is any way at all to let the world know that we are voting for them (the future well-being of those other nations) as well as for us who live right here in the US, we should do it. Chances are that millions, if not billions of people around the world will be pleading for Americans to vote Democrat, if not literally, the thought will at least cross many minds of those who live abroad. Replace the word "Republican" with the Death party and replace the word "Democrat" with the Life party.
Let's not really call it that, but that is what it will amount to this time around. It's time to tell the world that Democrats care deeply for the lives and futures of the rest of the world along with those of Americans. It we get a Democratic victory this time, we will demonstrate to the rest of the world that America is a land that still cares about the peace and welfare of all people.
Also, if anyone can get the word out, please encourage the 9-11 survivors and families to vote Democrat this time around. You see, Bush and his outfit obviously do not care about their welfare. The survivors and families of 9-11 victims want an impartial investigation about the entire truth concerning September 11th and they want complete compensation which they are duly entitled to. Bush and gang want nothing of the sort!
The 9-11 survivors and the relatives of fallen loved ones will NOT get the investigation and compensation they deserve, nor will they get the deference they deserve in any way, unless and until Bush is out of power. If Republicans take the House, Senate, and governorships that will never happen. And I mean NEVER in the final sense of the word!
If Republicans take the House, Senate, and governorships this time, the end of the world might very well be one that the prophet Isaiah never dreamed of. Neither will it be one that the Founding Fathers of our nation dreamed of. It certainly will not be one that God planned and it will not be one that many people around the world have dreamed of either. If Bush is given free-reign through a complete (or possibly even a partial Republican victory) here are some of the worst-case scenarios that the International Community can expect:
1- Global warming to an unlivable degree and environmental collapse to unlivable conditions with their attending water shortages, famines and regional feuds.
2- A catastrophic nuclear accident reaching global proportions or a nuclear war that could annihilate the entire human race or leave just a handful of genetically impaired and sickly degenerate people barely clinging to life and/or unable to reproduce.
3- World War III on a calamitous scale the no previous war has ever been.
4- Endless war lasting for the remaining duration of human history on earth.
5- Extinction of most or all wildlife and holocaust after holocaust with the annihilation of whole human races, ethnic groups, and communities.
6- An early end to the human race.
7- All goodwill travel and communication stopped and thus goodwill of all kinds cut short.
8- Distrust of the United States from the global community when many US citizens don't want that outcome.
9- Children dying and suffering needlessly because of war and privation on a basis of a billion people or more in a very short time and then ongoing indefinitely.
That is just for starters but scary! These scenarios and those below are worst-case scenarios. The least-case scenarios, some which are mentioned below, would be bad enough.
If Bush is given free-reign through a complete (or possibly even a partial Republican victory) here are some of the things that Americans can look forward to but that most Americans don't want and have no right to receive or to be subjected to:
1- Oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and in or around Yellowstone National Park.
2- All of America's native forests, national monuments, refuges, and park lands gone forever!
3- An end to the United States Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence and what they stand for, along with an end to our basic human rights and civil liberties.
4- America at war for the rest of time or until a large part of our population is exterminated.
5- Our air and water so badly polluted that you die if you breathe the air or drink the water or you die if you don't.
6- Privatization of water and even air which could make water at least unaffordable to drink and greed to the point of selling human body parts at least on the Black Market.
7- Neighbor spying on neighbor causing epidemic distrust while turning neighbors into enemies who can turn people in to the government for cruel interment and even execution, for any reason or for no reason at all. Also good people being forced to do bad things or to support coercive programs against their will
8- Holocaust that results in elimination of whole groups of people, of whole races, of the elderly and handicapped, of people who don't agree with the regime and people being forced -- against their will -- to take a vaccine that they are more likely to die from than they are to contract the disease.
9- Rampant gun violence everywhere in America on the scale of the Washington DC sniper incident, or worse. Strange, but another woman was shot (today) on October 31, 2002, in Louisiana by a Bushmaster!
10- Large groups of people and individuals having no say about their futures and families while most often never knowing where they themselves will be taken and/or never knowing where a loved one has disappeared to or what their final destination will be.
11- A major economic collapse that could bring catastrophic privation and suffering for all but the rich and also could bring a global depression on a scale never experienced since the human race began.
Again and admittedly, these are worst-case scenarios which unfortunately are in the realm of probability because when you give an iniquitous government leader a little bit of authority he begins to exercise unrighteous dominion which turns into oppression, then abject tyranny which then turns deadly. It is inevitable once a bad leader with absolute power gets a taste of blood. It follows just as surely as the night follows the day. It has ever been thus from time immemorial.
The scenarios which are sure to happen if Bush is given full reign by a Republican victory are such things as mainstream Americans going hungry; not enough nurses in a recovery ward at a hospital so that more patients die after surgery or injury when they would not need to.
The chances of even a healthy person dying after surgery go up 7% when there are not enough well-trained registered nurses to attend them; people weeping in profound grief because of another shooting spree like the Washington, DC area sniper.
It tore my heartstrings to hear them weep and it did not even have to happen at all. If we stop to think about it, the timing of such a shooting spree is strange right before the election and the fact that it is in its fifth week at this writing.
The media has covered almost nothing but the shooting while the clock runs out on election issues important to Americans like affordable health care for every American, healing and restoring the economy that was completely healed in the Clinton years, keeping Social Security out of private hands, and preserving and healing the environment.
Yes, we will weep and we will die on a scale yet unknown if we give Bush a mandate by electing a majority in his party this time around! No sane voter really wants this direction to continue. And those who refuse to vote will be held accountable as well.
Again, this may only be the tip of the iceberg, but there is no future in a Republican victory this time because Bush would then be given free reign to do anything and everything he wants to, how he wants to, where he wants to, and when he wants to and he will have the media to back him up. Then there would be no stopping him, when he should instead end up impeached and appearing before the International Criminal Court. Nor should he expect to go on indefinitely the way he has been going and is still going with impunity.
One great lesson that I have learned as one who has studied the Holocaust of Hitler's Third Reich is this -- millions of people never got to grow up, the elderly never got to live as long as they would have lived, people in the prime of life never got to realize their life's destiny and their fondest dreams, young couples in love never got to marry, children who were meant to be born never got to be born.
A whole segment of society that would have made the world a much better place for all of us and for future generations never got to contribute to the greater good of society. A whole group of people that constituted millions of souls ended up wasted and dead resulting in a terrible loss of opportunity to bring good to the human race.
Haven't Americans and the rest of humanity already suffered enough in less than two years of Bush and Republican rule? Wake up America and wake up World! This election should NOT be about politics, it should be a matter of life and death!
Not in our names will the Bush Agenda go forward. Vote Democrat November 5th.
