The Clinton Administration introduced a slew of counter-terrorism proposals. If in force before 9/11/01, federal officials might have detected and prevented the terrorist plot that killed 3000 Americans. Unfortunately, top Republicans stalled anti-terrorism legislation for nearly a year and a half and then watered-down the key provisions. We all know what happened eight months into the illegitimate Bush/Cheney reign of error. All Republicans can do is blame others for their mistakes. They can't keep us safe.

Mary MacElveen writes: Some on the other side of the political spectrum claim President Clinton was soft on national security. They blame him for the horrific attacks that befell us September 11th, 2001. I say hogwash. That attack happened under Mr. Bush's watch, not President Clinton's. I do not find many faults with President Clinton, but I see plenty of intelligence. Along with great strides to make us a better America without sacrificing many of the freedoms we hold so dear to us.

Clinton's "Lies" vs. GOP Crimes
Mike Hersh writes: Starting even before the 1992 election, the right wing went into overdrive lying about President Clinton. Lee Atwater began it before Clinton's last campaign for Governor of Arkansas. Then-President Bush even ordered the State Department and others to break the law looking for dirt on the Clintons. Bad enough, but then it got worse.

Richard M. Scaife paid people to lie about Bill Clinton, and Clinton's racist enemies in Arkansas were happy to get paid to keep doing it. Tiny magazines -- many funded by the right wing conspiracy -- fed right wing hate radio. Established media followed the hate radio, publishing lies and smears against President Clinton.

Many fell for these lies, including the NY Times and Washington Post. Once those major papers went tabloid on Clinton, of course every nut job even got worse. The established media following the hate radio right wing nuts. The pattern continued. Each time repeating all the past repudiated accusations:

The rabid right wing investigated President Clinton for 10 years (and counting...) and all the witch hunters have to show are a litany of non-lies about irrelevant matters in a frivolous, sham lawsuit itself funded by right wingers as a partisan dirty trick.
