Get ready: March madness in April!

There's a serious buzz here in DC as we prepare for the fast approaching March for Women's Lives on Sunday, April 25. With so much going on, we want to make sure you're all in the know. This message will give you info about getting to and staying in DC -- and other cool March updates, too. So if you've already signed up, or if you're still deciding whether or not you should come, this should make it easier for you to be here.

And as an added bonus -- Register for the March today and you can reserve your free NARAL Pro-Choice America sign!

March 101: The basics

The March for Women's Lives will take place Sunday, April 25, 2004.

  • Assembly is at 10:00 am on the National Mall between 3rd and 14th Streets. There will be a morning program of speakers and entertainment.
  • The March will begin at noon.
  • After the March, there will be another rally with speakers and performers, ending around 5:00 pm.

When you arrive at the Mall, you can march with NARAL Pro-Choice America or activists from your state. Volunteers will also be around to answer questions and direct you to the right place on the Mall. Childcare will be available, and there will also be accommodations for people with special needs.

Trains, planes & automobiles

TIP: If you live in a state with a NARAL Pro-Choice America affiliate office, contact them immediately!  They'll get you info on state specific activities and plans.

If there is no affiliate in your state, here are some tips and suggestions for planning your road trip:

A place to lay your head

If you have to stay overnight in DC, but haven't yet made plans, don't let that stop you from marching! Here's a list of ideas:

  • Crash with friends! This is the most enjoyable (and cheapest!) way to get your zzz's. Dig out your sleeping bag and make it an old-fashioned slumber party. (Then bring your hosts along for the March!)
  • Click here for information on a wide variety of hotels in DC.
  • Hostels are an affordable option -- get more info on area hostels here.
  • If you love the great outdoors, this is a great time of year for camping. Visit this web site for a listing of campgrounds in and around DC.

Volunteer and get a FREE staff t-shirt!
As you can imagine, a March of this size requires A LOT of people to make it happen. We need hundreds of volunteers the week before the March and throughout the entire weekend to help assemble signs, crowd canvass, and pass out signs and stickers. Don't worry if you've never done this sort of thing before -- there will be fun and exciting trainings the entire week before the March throughout DC. After you sign up, someone will contact you to give you all the details. Thank you!

Sign up today.

Volunteers will be rewarded with our undying gratitude, the pride of knowing that they made a huge difference for the March, AND a free, specially designed t-shirt and sign!

Get your gear here!
What better attire could there be for a pro-choice March than a pro-choice tee? Order online before April 16 so that we can mail your t-shirt before the March. Order your pro-choice tee today for only $15, click here.

Then, on the following Tuesday (April 27) proudly wear your shirt to counter "National Pro-Life T-Shirt Day." Every year, hundreds of anti-choice students wear t-shirts on campus to demonstrate support for the anti-choice movement. Make sure your pro-choice voice is heard, too. Get your t-shirt today!

As if Marching wasn't enough...

...you can rock out for the right to choose, too!  On Saturday, April 24, don't miss the first show brought to you by NARAL Pro-Choice America and Punkvoter.com. And even better, all proceeds benefit NARAL Pro-Choice America. Head over to Nightclub 9:30 to see the Lunachicks rock the house!  Doors open at 5:30pm.  Avoid the rush -- get your tickets today for only $10.  Click here

Since 1988 New York City's queens of volume, the Lunachicks, have been plaguing the world with their powerful brand of punk, a touch of metal & a fistful of rock-n-roll. Spitting out their version of the world colored by outrageous spectacle and humor, the Lunachicks have garnered themselves an impressive worldwide following.

The Lunachicks have shared the stage with many great bands such as The Ramones, Joan Jett, The Offspring, Marilyn Manson, Deborah Harry, No Doubt, The Buzzcocks, Rancid, NOFX and Luscious Jackson to name just a few.

Spread the word about the March - Forward this movie
You hear it all the time -- no one thinks the right to choose could really be taken away. As difficult as it may be to believe, it's happening NOW before our very eyes. Watch our newest flash movie to find out how the anti-choice movement is getting closer to their goal of ending the right to chose, and what you can do to stop it.
