Most would probably agree that the 2004 Presidential Election was nothing short
of exhausting, but was this the strategy all along? With Inaguration Day quickly
approaching it is surprising not to hear of any local protest marches, prayer
vigils, or some sort of activities planned on January 20th for those of us who
reject the Bush agenda.
After talking with folks who share my dislike for the current administration,
one thing I found most had in common was exhaustion. We are still drained from
the election, propaganda, and debates that came along with having an opinion
especially living in a “red” state. Then it occurred to me that this was the
opposing strategy.
Exhaustion certainly doesn’t change our opinions, but it does encourage us to
avoid political debating and other domineering activities that our opposition
thrives on. Some even allow themselves to believe that they have invalidated
liberal, moderate, and free thinkers because it’s easier for us to ignore them
than to reason with them.
The numbers speak for themselves. We are a nation divided. Bush supporters
have only succeeded in annoying the “other half” of us. Bush’s reelection is a
blow to all American citizens. It’s sadly apparent now and by the time Bush
supporters come to this realization and look beyond partisan bonds we will be a
nation beyond repair.
In saying this, I would like to encourage those of you suffering from "Bush
Exhaustion" to leave it behind and involve yourselves with organizations and
like minds who strive for change and that have a positive impact on all
Americans.
