Inspect Iraq, Don't Attack
"Our country values life and never seeks war unless it is essential to security and to justice."
True of America, not true of Bush.
"America's leadership and willingness to use force confirmed by the Congress is the best way to ensure compliance and avoid conflict."
Bush is not interested in avoiding conflict.
"Saddam must disarm, period. If, however, he chooses to do otherwise, if he persists in his defiance, the use of force may become unavoidable."
Saddam must disarm, but Bush already thinks the use of force is "unavoidable."
"The course of action may bring many sacrifices, yet delay, indecision and inaction could lead to a massive and sudden horror. By timely and resolute action we can defend ourselves and shape a peaceful future."
Who will sacrifice? Bush won't say. He has it backwards claiming a reasonable delay "could lead to a massive and sudden horror" but a rash rush to war will "shape a peaceful future?"
"Together with the Congress, I will do everything necessary to protect and defend our country."
No one opposes anything "necessary to protect and defend our country." We question Bush's ability to know what is "necessary to protect" us vs. what Karl Rove thinks is necessary to protect Republican politicians from us.
